Time: 3:00pm-5:00pm
Venue: UTS Tower Level 22, Room 10
Cost: FREE

You are invited to attend a free roundtable event, hosted by the University of Technology Sydney to discuss misogyny in the media and specifically, journalist and academic Jenna Price’s recent report, 'Women for Media: You Can’t Be What You Can’t See’, supported by the Trawalla Foundation.

Jenna’s report found that across 15 top Australian news sites, men dominated as sources. Male journalists’ bylines dominated the top stories on the websites. Women were rarely in photos unless they were victims of crime and if you want an opinion on politics, about 70 per cent of those columns are written by men.

Speakers include:

  •     Jenna Price, journalist and academic
  •     Cassandra Goldie, ACOSS CEO
  •     Amanda Collinge, series producer of Q&A
  •     Verity Firth, Executive Director of Social Justice at UTS
  •     Carol Schwartz AM, Founding Chair of the Women’s Leadership Institute Australia, who will be facilitating the discussion.

Please join us for a lively discussion on women in the Australian media, share your own experiences and workshop what can be done to elevate the voices of women in public debates.

This event is supported by the UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion
