Learn about the 'Raise The Rate' campaign to lift Newstart and Youth Allowance, and how to get involved.

'Raise The Rate' Parramatta Community Forum

Saturday June 15th, 1pm
Harry Todd Band Hall, 10 Jubilee Lane, Parramatta

Could you survive on less than $15K a year?

Newstart is $282 a week ($40 a day) and has not been raised in real terms in 25 years (and Youth Allowance is even lower). Over that time, housing, energy, and other living costs have dramatically increased.

Over 900,000 people in Australia are locked out of paid work, studying, or caring for children, and live on Newstart or another Allowance.

Many struggle daily to afford basic essentials like a roof over their head and food on their table. People living on Newstart have to make tough choices between eating a meal and paying a bill, buying shoes for their children, and maintaining their health.

There is a chorus of voices calling for Newstart to be lifted: charities, trade unions, 30 local Councils, regional groups, and big and small business groups.

Come along to learn about the Raise The Rate campaign to lift Newstart and Youth Allowance, and how to get involved.

Light refreshments will be provided.
